A mum with a baby strapped to her chest got into a plane cat fight with a fellow passenger over hand luggage space. The pair got into a row about overhead luggage space after they boarded the Air China flight in Dazhou.
The mum got on the aircraft first along with her husband and baby, and according to witnesses put their hand luggage in the space above their seats on the CA1488.
But a short time later a short-haired woman boarded the plane by herself and complained that the family had taken up all the available space in the compartment.
She started to rearrange their suitcases by herself.
Video footage, which shows the young baby in a front carrier, was filmed by a fellow passenger.
The mother was then heard yelling “she tossed our luggage” moments before the pair got into the fight right in the cabin aisle in front of all the other passengers.
The short-haired woman, who can be seen standing on her seat still trying to make space for her own suitcase, tells witnesses to “call the police”, while others urge them to “stop fighting”.
The scrap lasted for a few minutes and was eventually broken up by flight attendants, witnesses said, and the two women managed to avoid being kicked off the plane because of the altercation.
Air China has yet to release a statement and did not say whether the flight was delayed because of the fight.
Chinese tourism authorities vowed in 2015 to begin stamping out “uncivilised” behaviour both home and abroad, promising to blacklist travellers if they displayed behaviour that would “tarnish” China’s reputation.
