An easyJet flight heading to Liverpool was diverted 800 miles because of a ‘disruptive’ woman who was reportedly caught drinking her own alcohol.
Airline bosses say the female passenger became disruptive when she was approached by cabin crew while drinking booze that she had brought on board.
Flight EZY7124 was travelling from the Spanish resort of Alicante last night when the incident occurred.
The plane was forced to land at Bordeaux airport, where she was then met by police and escorted off the aircraft.
Those on board were forced to wait for more than two hours before they could continue their journey to the city.
It is not clear at this stage whether the female became involved in an altercation with anyone else on board.
Today, a spokesperson for easyJet said: “easyJet can confirm that flight EZY7124 from Alicante to Liverpool diverted to Bordeaux due to a passenger on board behaving disruptively.
“The safety and welfare of our passengers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority. easyJet’s crew are trained to assess and evaluate all incidents.
“Whilst such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour on board and always push for prosecution.
“Police met the aircraft on landing and the passenger was escorted from the aircraft. The aircraft has since continued to Liverpool and we would like to apologise to all passengers for any inconvenience caused by the delay.”
